There are a few things to keep in mind to keep your corsage flowers fresh.

Corsages are a beautiful way to incorporate flowers into your outfit for big events like weddings, school dances, graduations, and other special occasions. However, you might be wondering how to keep the flowers fresh until your event. We have a few tips to help keep corsage flowers fresh. For instance, keeping them in protective clear corsage boxes, ordering at the right time, keeping them cool and hydrated, and using fresh flower preserving sprays. Read on for our tips on preserving corsage flower freshness.

Keep the Flowers in the Clear Corsage Boxes

Clear corsage boxes help protect your flowers until you’re ready to wear your corsage.

Most florists put boutonnieres and corsages in clear floral boxes to protect the flowers until the time of the event. Clear corsage boxes help protect flowers during transportation and storage until prom night, the wedding day, or the other event you ordered the corsage for. Taking your flowers out of the box means you risk the delicate flowers and decorative additions getting squashed. Therefore, we recommend keeping your corsage in the plastic box to protect it and keep it fresh.

Don’t Order Too Early

It’s also important to note that you shouldn’t order your corsage too early. Cut flowers have a shelf life and will start to look less than fresh after a while. You should try to set the delivery or pick up time for the day before the event at the earliest. Generally it’s best to pick up the flowers the day of the event, but obviously sometimes that isn’t an option, so opt for the day before at the earliest.

Keep Cool and Hydrated

Another way to help keep corsage flowers fresh is to keep them cool and hydrated, otherwise they may dry out and start to wilt. Without plenty of water, the blooms may begin to close and shrink. The petals may also start to wilt and lose some of their vibrancy. We recommend using a spray bottle and misting the flowers (especially the stems) while in clear corsage boxes.

Also, consider placing the corsage in the refrigerator. The clear corsage box will help prevent the flowers from getting crushed by other items in your fridge. Just keep in mind that you don’t want flowers to get too cold, so try to place the corsage box near the front of the refrigerator or in the door. If you don’t have access to a refrigerator, such as at your wedding venue, consider keeping the corsage in a cooler until right before you need to put it on. In addition, remember you don’t want to refrigerate your corsage for more than 24 hours.

Spray with Floral Sealant

Another option for keeping your corsage fresh for your big day is to mist the flowers with a floral sealant spray. You can typically pick these sprays up at the florist or a gardening center. They are clear and help lock in moisture without affecting the look of your flowers. Just spray a little on the corsage shortly before putting it on for your event.
